Many thousands of devotees are expected to throng to Vishnu temples in the City on Vaikuntha Ekadasi, as the door of the sanctum sanctorum or the northern gates of the same in Vishnu Temples will be opened only on this day during the year.
Vashnavites fast on Vaikuntha Ekadashi as penance to reach the heavenly abode of Lord Vishnu. Only the next morning, after a darshan of Lord Vishnu’s feet do they break their fast, explained Secretary of the Sri Lakshmi Venkateshwara Swamy Temple, Tyagarajanagar, Modalagiri.
The Vaikuntha Dwaram at Tirupathi will be opened on this special day. It is believed that by entering this, people can attain salvation. At the Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanam in Bangalore (TTD-B), a Vaikuntha Dwara will be created for this day said Secretary, TTD-B, KB Venkatesh Rao. Nearly 20,000 ladoo prasadam will brought from Tirupathi for the occasion, he said, adding that between 25,000 and 3,000 people are expected to visit this temple.
For the sacred day, ISKCON has organised a Vaikuntha Dwara modelled after the descriptions in the Puranas.
The dwaras will be opened at 5.45 am. A Sri Vaikuntha Ekadashi Sangeetotsava - which includes Dwara Puja Sangeeta, nagaswara, bhakthi sangeetha etc - has been organised.
More than one lakh devotees are expected to visit the temple,said ISKCON Vice President Chanchalapathy Das.
The Sri Lakshmi Venkataramana Swamy Temple Trust has also organised music programmes with devotional songs. Dwashi-Vajrangi to Lord will be held on Friday.
At the Shree Venkateshwara Swamy Temple, Domlur Layout, Sree Vaikuntha Ekadasi pooja will be arranged in the morning. The programmes include Dwararadhane and Vishwaroopa Darshanam, Ksheerabhishekam, Nitya Pooja and Aradhane, Mahamangalarathi.
