The HC  directed the chief secretary to refer the controversy raised over the allegations of the misuse of the revenue collected from the cess levied under Karnataka  Motor Vehicles Act.

Justice D V Shailendra Kumar passed the order while hearing a batch of petitions filed by South India Lorry Owners’ Association and others.

As per the Act, the cess collected is to be used for the CM’s Rural Road Development Fund,  Bangalore Mass Rapid Transit Limited and for providing infrastructure facilities across State. But, the petitioners  have contended that the cess revenue is being misused.
