You can eat this palace!
Sindhu G Murthy
Interestingly, the structure stands with merely sugar, without the aid of any external reinforcement. The sugar used for this model will be melted and given away for charity.

This Christmas and New Year season, gear up for a feast for the eyes as well as for the taste buds. Nilgiris and National Consumer Fair is organising the 33rd Annual Nilgiris cake show and International lifestyle exhibition at St Joseph’s Indian High School, opposite Kanteerava Stadium from the December 21 to 31 between 10 am and 9 pm,the passes for which are priced at Rs 30.

The Nilgiris Group have always displayed stunning cake and sugar models in their past exhibitions. This year, the cynosure for sure, is the Bangalore Palace, which is erected to 62.5 ft in length by 19.5 ft in width, that is made of approximately 4.5 tons of sugar and maintained at a constant temperature of 40 degree celsius, for which, nearly 25 people have toiled over 3 months.

The cake engineering team led by C Ramachandran has ensured that this masterpiece appears as close to reality as possible.

Interestingly, the structure stands with merely sugar, without the aid of any external reinforcement. The sugar used for this model will be melted and given away for charity.

Other attractions at the exhibition are Santa Villa, Ship, Kiddies Wheel, Jurassic Park, Windsor Castle, Cinderalla Coach, Flower Arrangement, Peacock and Veena. 999 tickets will be issued for ten cake models that will be on raffle.

Nilgiris has ensured a mouthwatering treat at special counters that will sell rich plum cake, marzipan, chocolates, cookies, ice cream, dairy desserts and many other Christmas goodies.

The Nilgiris exhibition that started in 1969 remains one of its kind even today. It has even been listed in the Limca Book of records and happens to have missed on the Guinness Book of World records for the simple reason that Guiness doesn’t have a category to suit it.

This exhibition also aims to create more value by showcasing  lifestyles products and consumer electronics of top International brands like LG, Samsui, Whirlpool, Godrej, Canon, HP, Prestige, Honda, etc, and food and entertainment, at surprising discounts in addition to gifts —  all under the same roof.

The star attraction of this section, the organisers claim is the artificial flowers and plants from Thailand and American Melamine crockery by weight.
