The 43rd Convocation of the Bangalore University will be held on January 19, next year. The chief guest for the convocation will be former president Dr A P J Abdul Kalam, who will also deliver the convocation address.
Briefing mediapersons after the University Syndicate meeting, BU Vice-Chancellor Prof H A Ranganath said that four people would be awarded honorary degree on this occasion. They are: Chief Justice of India K G Balakrishnan (LLD), G Narayan, President of Karnataka Janapada Parishat (DLitt), Prof G Goverdhan Mehta, Former IISc director (DSc) and T R Jayaraman, former Vice-Chancellor of Bangalore University (DLitt).
The Syndicate has also accepted the recommendations of the sub-committee, which was constituted to regulate the expenditure and utilisation of telephones. One of the recommendations of the committee was to reduce the connections for teaching and non-teaching faculties. However, the V-C said that the recommendations would be implemented in pragmatic manner and “it’s not possible to suddenly disconnect all the telephone lines.”
