Rajya Sabha member Jaya Bachchan, on Saturday, alleged that service tax authorities humiliated her family seeking details on expenses of Abhishek’s wedding with Aishwarya Rai earlier this year. "I received notices from tax authorities who wanted to know how much amount was spent on beauty parlour and flower decoration on my son’s marriage," the Samajwadi Party member told the House.
Bacchan made the complaint on the harrassment during a debate on a bill seeking parliamentary approval for supplementary demands for grants. The actress-turned-politician said that if even she could be humiliated, she can empathise with others who may have faced harassment by tax personnel.

Finance Minister P Chidambaram on Saturday denied the allegations. “Obviously, you know she is wrong,” Chidambaram told reporters outside Parliament.
