Economic independence is must for a woman, opined former MLA and Chief of Ifco-Tokio General Insurance Company K Srinivas Gowda here. If a woman is not economically strong, then there are chances of her being a slave to man, he added.
He was speaking after inaugurating the Women Insurance scheme, serious ailments and Medical policy, which was jointly organised by Ifco, Ifco foundation and Ifco-Tokio General Insurance Company at T Chennaiah auditorium at Kolar on Saturday.
These schemes have been implemented to help women who are economically weak and exploited and also help them lead an economically independent life, he said.
As many as 50,000 compensation will be given in cases of death or physical disabled due to accidents, under the scheme. However, initially, they have to deposit Rs 20 per year, he added.
To enroll under Serious ailment insurance scheme, one has to deposit Rs 365 and Rs 450 under Public welfare Insurance.
Nowadays Women have developed a trend to participate in functions for the sake of getting money and this needs to be stopped, he stressed.
This tendency is more in Malur and Kolar taluks which has been supported by many politicians, which needs to be curbed, he added.
At the same time, Mr Srinivas stressed to help various self-help groups, and other groups which help farmers in their development.
District Commissioner G Ramachandra said that the Ifco company has implemented a scheme, in which rural area women can get insurance in lesser installments, but until more publicity is given to this scheme, many cannot avail benefits of it, he said.
Ifco Tokio General Insurance Company Vice President S S Kukreja and K T Manjunath also spoke on the occasion. Srinivas Gowda and Deputy Commissioner G Ramachandra distributed Insurance scheme letters and Insurance bonds to members of self-help groups.
Holali Prakash, Taluk Panchayat member N G Byatappa, Ifco Tokio Insurance Company financial advisor M K Tandan were also present during the occasion.
