Condemning the delay in work in drains, the Karnataka Dalit Sangharsh Samiti met chief executive engineer R Prakash on Saturday evening to assess the progress of work.
Work was begun on the 1.5 km stretch of the road attached to the Public Works Department a year ago. The Dalit Sangharsha Samithi members expressed their unhappiness over the fact that work has not been completed yet.
Alleging the involvement of a former BJP MLA in holding up the demolition of commercial establishments blocking the line of work, one of the members said that due to the authorities’ negligence, sewage water now spills on the city streets also.
Following the complaint raised by the Dalit Sangharsha Samithi, chief executive engineer R Prakash inspected the drain work on Saturday.
The commercial establishments in front of the Mahavishnu Kalyana Mantapa did indeed obstruct the line of work, chief executive engineer stated.
The court’s verdict is expected soon and work will begin as per the orders.
Executive engineer H B Nagesh, engineer M Hanumappa and contractor Krishnappa and others were also present.
