Superpower Bali-ed! After two weeks of hectic negotiations which invariably went late into the night, the curtains finally came down on the UN climate meet at Indonesias Bali on Dec 15. The worlds only superpower and biggest
polluter, the USA, finding itself isolated, agreed with
the other 186 nations to thrash out a new
international treaty on how to cut down
emission of polluting green house gases
like carbon dioxide and methane. The treaty
should be ready by 2009 and must be
implemented by 2013.

Several billions The financial requirement for mitigating and adapting to climate changes are enormous.
Time to think different and be tough with polluters Where 5 per cent reductions proved unattainable, can a goal of 50 pc reductions mean anything? Tough as the job seems, it can be done with some drastic changes in technology and attitude.
Cut in emissions: Where theres a will... Instead of looking at alternatives to energy there is need for limiting consumption at all levels. From the individual to policy makers, everyone can make a difference.
