Centre for Humanities at Manipal University will present a series of seminars, film festivals, cultural programmes and a gallery of pictures and paintings to depict India’s journey from 1857 to 2007, informed Manipal Institute of Communication Honourary Director M V Kamath. Addressing a press conference, he said “united we stand, divided we fall” is the theme of the Bharatayan. Major historical events like the ‘Indian Sepoy Mutiny,’ ‘Dandi March,’ ‘Salt Satyagraha,’ Nehru’s famous speech “A tryst with destiny,” Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination etc. The philosophy during 150 years will be portrayed through an art exhibitions, music festivals and seminars over the next 12 months, he added.
This initiative also throws light on the industrial growth and technological advances that have contributed in making India as an emerging super power.
Former Minister for Disinvestment Arun Shourie will inaugurate Bharatayan on December 24 .
