Cong, BJP wooing only rich
DH News Service,Bangalore:
Setting the pace for the forthcoming Assembly elections in the State, National President, Bahujan Samaj Party and UP Chief Minister Mayawati on Sunday said that people in Karnataka should emulate the UP example and support her party to come to power in the state.

In a rally, to enlarge the party base in Karnataka, at Palace Grounds in Bangalore, Mayawati attacked the Congress, BJP and other parties and said that they do not have the interest of the poor and socially backward communities. “They win the elections with the support of the poonjipati (rich),” she charged.
Her appeal to the around-25,000 people crowd, was as much to the weaker and marginalised sections as to those in the upper class communities to come together and support the BSP — the ‘Sarvajana sukhaya; sarvajana hitaya’ (prosperity and well-being of all) Party.
She said the BSP, which has won four Assembly elections in UP, has never used money power of the rich and the affluent to win elections. “We have won with the economic assistance of our party workers and that’s why the party is free of any pressure from vested interests. It’s 60 years since India’s independence but none of parties, at the Centre or other states could eliminate poverty. This is because they never had the interest of the poor at heart. The BSP is the only party, which is all-inclusive. We have the interest of the marginalised people like the OBCs, SC/STs and also the poor in upper class communities. BSP is not a one-caste or community party; it belongs to all castes and communities,” she said.
Earlier PGR Sindhia, who joined the BSP addressed the gathering. “I am not joining the BSP for political reasons; I want Karnataka to have a stable government and administration. The JD(S) is a broken house. Though I am new to the Party, I agree with the BSP ideology, of all-inclusiveness. She (Mayawati) has put a lot of faith and responsibility on me. I would like to serve the people through the Party,” said Sindhia
