A Trust to promote Mysore veena tradition and popularise the school and compositions of a three-generation string of renowned Veena artists and gurus of yesteryears was launched in Bangalore on Tuesday.
Named as “Guru Keshava Surya Memorial Trust” - the body is floated in memory of Veena exponents Bakshi Subbanna, R S Keshava Murthy and R K Suryanarayana. ‘Guru Vandana,’ an enchanting Veena Ensemble performance preceded the inauguration of this Trust, which is formed by the disciples-cum-family members of late R K Suryanarayana. R K Raghavan, R K Shankar, R K Padmanabha, R P Prashanth, R P Pramod, R P Kiran, Meena Murthy and Gayatrhi Suryakumar played the veena. Managing trustee R K Shankar said, the Trust would also encourage and train young talents in music. Guest of honour former MLA K Chandrashekhar said, an international art complex to host multiple music concerts was underway in Basavanagudi.
