The programme of getting photographs and thumb impressions of temporary ration card holders under Mangalore taluk rural area has commenced on December 20, which would continue till February 20, 2008.
The centres will be kept open between 9 am and 6 pm, except on public holidays.
All members of each family above 12 years old should mandatorily participate in the drive, stated Tahsildar Raju Mogaveera in a release.
The card holders should produce the original copy of the temporary cards having MNG numbers; the family is required to pay Rs 45 towards permanent ration card; proper details can be given during the programme if information in the card has mistakes; if undeserving people possess BPL cards, such cards can be returned to the village accountant or secretary of gram panchayat or food inspector, for whom arrangements will be made to give APL cards, the release informed.
A total of 50 centres have been identified for holding the programme in the rural areas of Mangalore taluk limits.
