Over 1,000 villages in the country have been identified to undertake permanent and total development works under NABARD Navagrama Yojna. Among them, Thorenooru Gram Panchayat in the district has also been identified, said NABARD District Assistant Manager A L Kulkarni.
Speaking at the preparatory meeting organised in the presence of panchayat administration board to discuss the permanent development projects under NABARD in Thorenooru Gram Panchayat of Kushalnagar hobli, he explained about the structure of the project. The services and facilities which will be provided locally through the village development works undertaken by NABARD must be utilised effectively, he added.
Project advisor and Hunsur Bharatiya Girijana Shikshana Samsthe Director M B Prabhu said that under the project, facilities including educational institutions, health and other basic amenities along with human resource development projects will be taken up on a priority basis with the help of citizens in Thorenooru Gram Panchayat in a period of three years. District Lead Bank Manager Arunachal Sharma said 63 self-help groups in the village will be developed under Entrepreneurship Programme. In the first stage, local resources will be developed using Cottage Industry Development Board and banks, he informed.
