The saying that limitations are in one's mind has got a real life example. In many popular advertisements, it is shown that a dark girl can't be model. Here is an eye-opener for all those people who conceived limitations in life.
Sridevi, not the actress, has modeled for a calendar that has supposedly been launched against the Kingfisher calendar. Now what is so great about it? Sridevi is a transsexual.

If you think she got lucky here, you are wrong. She has worked as a model before. And this was one of her important projects.

She says that she got a good name to her community by her efforts and she is very happy that she could fulfill her dreams. Any obstacles in the process? "Not really," she says.

And whose vision was it to launch Sridevi in a calendar; it was P Venkatesh, a well-known photographer who is known for his work on similar lines.

Vekatesh planned the entire venture and invested six months in trying to figure out various angles and styles in which the pictures will be shot. He then approached Sridevi, who "took very little time to agree". Now, a make-up artist had to be involved. Dinesh, from Galmour Touch, was approached for this. "I had never done this kind of work before. So when Venkatesh approached me, my immediate reaction was a 'no'," says Dinesh. But later he came around.

Sridevi is wearing make-up that every other model wears. "Nothing extraordinarily different has been used. The usual lips sticks etc have been used," says Dinesh.

According to him, it was difficult initially to figure out a way to go about the make-up and shoot. "Sridevi was very supportive. She never said no to anything that I wanted to try out on her," adds Dinesh.

The calendar was shot over two days. Sridevi was a little scared initially, she was a little conscious. But "Dinesh and Venkatesh make me comfortable very soon," she says.

"Initially, I was thinking how will I give expression et al but later I figured out and it was not difficult then," she smiles. Sridevi did not have an ounce of doubt that Venkatesh's photography will make her look good. "I knew the calendar would be very good," she says.

And according to her, Venkatesh has met her expectations. She feels very proud of her effort.

Sridevi further adds, "My community has been very supportive. They feel I brought a good name to them."

The experience was so "great" for all three , Dinesh, Venkatesh and Sridevi, that are all looking forward to work on similar projects in future.
