BPO Idol winners

Sneha from Bangalore and Sahil Jeet Singh from Pune emerged winners in the finals of the Infosys BPO Idol, a nationwide campus talent held on December 21 at the Infosys BPO campus in Bangalore. The winners win free tickets to Singapore. The final event was judged by popular singer Kavita Krishnamurthy.

Billava Association turns 31

The Bangalore Billava Association will soon start a school, said Association President M Vedakumar here. He was responding to a call by senior Congress leader M Dharam Singh to the backward and oppressed classes to fight for  their rights and privileges. The occasion was the 31st anniversary celebration of the Association on Sunday (Dec 16).

Inaugurating the function, Mr Singh recalled the crusade of social reformer Sri Narayanguru to uplift the oppressed classes. Legislator K Vasanth Bangera released a commemorative souvenir. Association Vice president Bhaskar C Amin and others also spoke.

Light music programme

The 65 edition of “Maneangaladalli kavitha gayana” , a programme of light music organised by Upasana was held at the residence of K Venkatachala Murthy in Sanjaynagar on December 22. “Hoogonchalu”, a CD of light music was released on the occasion. Singers, who are artistes in the CD, including Upasana Mohan, Pancham Halibandi, Sandhya Srinath and Vidya Murthy sang at the programme.

Workshop promoting bliss

A three day workshop by was conducted by Paramahans Swami Nithyananda from December 20 to 22  at the Bangalore Palace grounds. It saw a tremendous response from people, seeking answers to the eternal question on ' how to attain inner Bliss".

The guru laid bare essential truths, complex theories of living and spiritual jargon, by simplifying and making it understandable and reachable to a vast audience.

The programme was well attended by many known personalities and intellectuals of Bangalore.

The Nithyananda Dhayan Peetam , the ashram of swamiji, conducts various life altering courses and lectures. On January 1, former President Abdul Kalam and other notable dignitaries will grace the ashram to share the Swamiji's Birthday celebrations.

World’s longest towel in City

HomeStop has an ongoing towel fiesta called Refresh. The key attraction includes the display of the longest towel in the world (source – Limca Book of Records). The towel claims to scale the Qutab Minar around five-and-a-half times, weighs 500 kilograms, is 419 meters long and is woven in the colours of the Indian tri-colour.
