A headmaster from Mutnal near Belgaum, was suspended on Wednesday on charges of allegedly abusing 7th standard girl students.
Mutnal Higher Primary School headmaster A V Sontakki, had taken students to Dharmasthala, Udupi and some other places of Dakshina Kannada three days ago.
On their return, some of girls complained to their parents about the abnormal behaviour of the headmaster and said he beat them up and abused them in foul language.
A few parents, speaking on condition of anonymity, alleged that the HM had sexually harassed girls. The girls were in a state of shock and unable to openly come out with what sort of harassment they suffered, added parents.
According to DDPI, S Jaykumar, the headmaster had been suspended based on the complaint. An inquiry is being conducted. As many as 44 students, including 23 girls, and two teachers had gone on tour.
On Wednesday, several enraged parents rushed to the school and forced the headmaster into a room where he was allegedly beaten up and manhandled.
He was locked up until the DDPI and police rushed to the spot and rescued him.
