Officers, who failed to convince the residents, repeatedly appealed them to pay pro-rata charges soon to get Cauvery water connection at the earliest.
The State government started collecting contribution from beneficiaries of Greater Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Project (GBWSSP) in 2004-05. Owners of properties built on sites with area up to1,200 sqft paid Rs 10,000. Later, the amount was reduced to Rs 5,000. However, difference amount was not paid to those who had already paid.
At the water adalat organised at Gurumurthy Reddy layout, Ramamurthy Nagar (ward 10), Subramanya, a retired engineer in Indian Railways, wanted to know from additional chief engineer of BWSSB Ramakrishna, whether the State government would return the difference amount with interest.
For this the officer said the amount would be adjusted with monthly water charges.
