High-speed rail link cleared
The State government has issued an order with regard to implementation of the ambitious high-speed rail link project to the proposed international airport in Devanahalli. The order has been issued with the State Executive Committee clearing the project last week.
Though the executive committee has accepted the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s (DMCR) plan to set up the City station at Police Parade Grounds (PPG), the government has decided to shift PPG to Jakkarayanakere. Besides, it has authorised the DMRC to appoint a consultant to conduct a traffic impact study on roads around PPG once the station is set up.
The government has also decided to engage services of DMRC to assist the Special Purpose Vehicle in implementing the project. KSIIDC has been appointed the nodal agency for the project.
Rs 40 cr worth land recovered
The BDA had a major haul on Thursday when it recovered encroached properties worth Rs 40 crore in Nagarbhavi I Stage Layout. A total of four acres and 30 guntas of land was recovered in the operation, which kicked off in the early hours of Thursday. While the land earmarked for ORR has been taken back for the road, the rest of the recovered land has been fenced.
Don’t privatise Bal Bhavan’
Former Bal Bhavan Society chairman B T Lalitha Nayak demanded the cancellation of an MoU entered into by Bal Bhavan Authority with a private amusement firm for ‘privatising’ Bal Bhavan. Addressing reporters here on Thursday, she asked the Governor to order a judicial probe into the issue.
Fake pass users caught
BMTC’s security and vigilance squad has caught four commuters for fraudulently using a photocopied pass of another person  by affixing their photos. They have been booked. BMTC has warned commuters against using such fake passes.
Reopen Parle: Labour Dept
The State labour department has issued an order directing Parle Products Private Limited to immediately re-open its unit in Bangalore. The order dated Dec 24 says the company had illegally shut the unit on October 31 this year following employees’ protests.
