Dairy industry needs milk producers support
DH News Service,Kolar:
The onus of protecting the interests of farmers and Komul (Federation of Kolar milk producers cooperative associations) is on milk producers, said former minister Alanguru Srinivas.

He was speaking at a function to  felicitate  Komul president K N Nagaraj at Mulbagal on Thursday. The programme was organised by the association of the employees of Mulbagal milk producers’ cooperative associations.
Mushrooming private diaries have adversely affected the functioning of milk federations by reducing the amount of milk supplied to the federations.
Apart from this, some vested interests in villages have been trying to disturb the functioning of different organisations working for the benefit of farmers and milk producers,Mr Nagaraj  added.
About 95 per cent of milk dairies in the district have been functioning honestly. There are a few complaints about the remaining dairies he observed.
Komul president K N Nagaraj who was felicitated on the occasion said that demand for milk  from Kolar district is going to be increased considerably  in the coming days.
Insurance scheme for cows will soon be introduced,  he said. Komul will take part in the scheme which will be implemented by KMF.
Komul executive director A S Premnath said that the menace of private dairies must be controlled. Abbanni Shankar, president of the association of the employees of Mulbagal milk producers’ cooperative associations urged that the purchase price of milk from farmers, which was hiked recently, should not be brought down.
Referring to the displeasure expressed by BJP leader B S Yeddyurappa regarding the recent hike in milk price, district cooperative union president  Byalahalli M Govinda Gowda remarked that this kind of attitude shows lack of concern for farmers.
