Ike To Negotiate With Russians
London, Dec. 27.
The Washington correspondent of the “Daily Telegraph” predicted today that President Eisenhower would make a “conciliatory reply” to Soviet Premier Nikolai Bulganin’s letter of December 11.
The correspondent wrote: “It is believed that President Eisenhower wants to negotiate with the Russians on disarmament.”
Hindi Agitation In Punjab Ends
New Delhi, Dec. 27.
The seven-month-old Hindi agitation in the Punjab has been suspended with immediate effect pending final settlement of the language controversy in the State.
This was announced here today by Mr Ghanshyam Singh Gupta, President of the Sarva Deshik Bhasha Swatantra Samiti.

Oil And Gas Struck Off Kakinada
Vijayawada, Dec. 27.
Oil and gas have been struck in a new off-shore well in the Godavari basin, 70 km south of Kakinada.
Announcing this Christmas gift to the nation, Petroleum Minister P Shiv Shanker said the presence of oil and gas was noticed on December 25 at a depth of about 2,000 metres. This off-shore well, christened G-2.2, holds great promise, he said. The Oil and Natural Gas Commission proposes to drill up to 4,000 metres.
