“Students should be introduced to various cultural art forms at their young age. This enables them to understand the rich cultural tradition of the land,” said Religious Endowment department Commissioner T Shyam Bhat.
Delivering the inaugural address at “Yaksha shiksha abhiyaan” jointly organised by Parivar Samudaya Abhivriddhi Trust and Department of Public Instruction at Volakadu Government High School here on Thursday, he said “Yakshagana is a unique feature of the coastal Karnataka and participation of the students in large number in this art form can yield better results in popularising this art throughout the world.”
Teachers play a major role in moulding the future of the students. Society should discharge their prime duty by honouring the teachers on every possible occasion.
Mr Bhat also lauded the district for its high literacy rates and said that the educational institutions in the district are the role models for other educational institutions of the country.
About 800 school students from 35 schools across the district have been selected for Yaksha Shiksha Abhiyaan and 8 teachers from various schools were felicitated.
