Protest against Kannada film
Tumkur,dhns:
  The Bhagat Yuva Sena, Bhagat Kranthi Sena, ABVP and other organisations protested against the controversial song in the Kannada movie ‘Preeti yeke bhumimelide’, in front of a cinema theatre in the city.
They were demanding that the song about Lord Rama should not be shown.
They gheroed the theatre before the morning show and pressed that the owners should not show the song.
The police who arrived at the scene held negotiations with the both the protesting parties and the owners and agreed that the controversial bits be blacked out.
Six protesters were arrested on charges of assault but were later released.
The protesters also warned of intensive agitation if the song was shown in ay part of the state.
District-level meet today
Tumkur,dhns:
  The managements and staff of unaided schools and colleges in the state association will hold its district level meeting on Saturday.
This was announced by Professor Chandrappa.
The meet will discuss the the issue of aid to educational  institutions of all mediums.
It will be held at Ravindra Kalakshetra from  2 pmin the afternoon on Saturday the 29th of December.
The organisers have requested that all the concerned people from various institutions to participate in the meeting.
Lokayukta traps BESCOM official
Bangalore, dhns:
The Lokayukta police, Kolar on Friday caught a Bescom official while accepting bribe from people of below poverty line families.
Chidanand, assistant executive engineer, Bescom, Gudibanda taluk, Kolar district was caught red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 1,500 from Devraj, resident of Perisandrs, Gudibanda taluk for sanctioning electricity connection to three BPL houses.
Chidanand had demanded a bribe of Rs 500 per house, including that of Devraj, who lodged a complaint with the Lokayukta police about him.  They laid a trap and arrested Chidanand. He was later remanded to judicial custody.
