Traffic will be banned on the road between 9 am and 7 pm. Chitra Santhe will be inaugurated by DGP K R Srinivasan and Kannada and Culture Secretary I M Vittala Murthy at 11 am.
Prominent artists of Karnataka with of international repute like K T Shiva Prasad, Chandranath Acharya, BKS Varma, K N Ramachandran, Prof V G Andani, Vijay Sindhur, M B Patil, JMS Mani, Babu Eshwar Prasad, B Devraj, S Gopinath and Sudesh Mahan will participate in the santhe.
Last year an estimated one lakh people attended the Santhe and more art enthusiasts are expected this year. An estimated Rs 8 to 10 lakh rupees are being spent on the current edition with the aid of private and public sponsors. It is estimated that the sale this time would be somewhere between Rs 80 lakh to Rs 1 crore and 100 per cent of the profit goes to the artists.
Chitra Santhe provides an opportunity for the people to meet the artists, whom they would never have met otherwise. The Chitra Santhe thus differentiates itself from the gallery culture of art. The young and upcoming artists, who are short of opportunities find Chitra Santhe an ideal space to exhibit, self-promote, sell and be recognised for their talent. Artists from Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi, Chenai and rural art schools from withing and outside Karnataka have shown interest to participate in the Santhe.
Canteen, stalls, information desk and a historic introduction to visual art will be an added attraction to the fare. Parking has been arranged at Bharath Seva Dal ground and side road of Gandhi Bhavan.
