Celebrated quarterback for a football team- Joe Kingman (Johnson) has a zillion fans and an enviable penthouse complete with a cutesy bulldog that huddles up, yet, none of that warm, fuzzy feeling that is attached to being with family. Loneliness hits him for a spilt second and he even recovers from it in the next. But try telling that to the guest knocking on his door... she’s smart. She’s cute. She’s eight! Peyton (Pettis) is the daughter Joe never knew he had. Surprise, surprise it is!
Apart from turning the dog into a crossdresser and “bedazzling” Joe’s prized football, this little lady uses every trick in the book to turn dad’s life topsy turvy. Quite a distraction for someone whose only preoccupation in life, apart from his game, is himself. What game plan will our man devise to make space for ballet classes and doll houses in his bachelor pad?
Cool dude-to-cool ‘dad’ is a formula that has been tried before. Vin Diesel in The Pacifier, Arnie Pooh in Kindergarten Cop, Nicolas Cage in Matchstick Men have all been there. And in The Game Plan, you get to see ‘The Rock’ have his shot at parentdom amidst cliched gags and situations. The film will probably feel at home in a TV movie schedule tailor-made for Father’s Day. Any other day, and it may not be as successful in emotionally blackmailing you into sitting through it.
