Sonia pays tributes to Bhutto
New Delhi, PTI:

UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi on Friday paid tributes to assassinated former Prime Minister of Pakistan Benazir Bhutto at the country’s embassy here.

Gandhi went to the embassy and signed the condolence register paying tributes to the Pakistani leader, who was killed at a rally in Rawalpindi on Thursday.

External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit also visited the Pakistan embassy to pay tributes to Bhutto.

Earlier, the Congress Working Committee (CWC), the party’s highest decision-making body, met here over Bhutto’s killing and adopted a resolution expressing “shock and grief” at it.

“Her assassination is yet another reminder of the grave challenge posed by the forces of terror and violence. This reprehensible and cowardly act, which has brutally cut short a life full of promise and potential, deserves to be strongly condemned by civilised society,” Gandhi said reading out the resolution.
