Karnataka won the Rolling Shield of Championship in All India Sanskrit Elocution contest held in Bangalore for the last three days.
The contest organised by Rashtriya Sankrit Sansthan at Poornapragna Samshohana Mandiram in Bangalore held various competitions like Shalakaspardha, Ashtadhyayi Kanthapathaspardha, in eight Indian Shastras including Tharka, Vedantha, Sankhya, Jyotishya, and Sanskrit Grammar and Shlokantyakshari competition. Students from institutions across the State, won five gold medals and 19 other prizes getting Karnataka the winning 24 points. Andhra Pradesh secured second place with 16 points.
At the valedictory function on Friday, Governor Rameshwar Thakur said Sanskrit is world’s best language and its contribution to promoting Indian culture was remarkable.
