Brahmo meet in B’lore
Bangalore, dhns: The Brahmo faith is the faith in the existence of a principle called Brahman as Almighty God. “This faith naturally leads to the concept of fatherhood of God — the Creator and the brotherhood of mankind,” said Dr Sushama Joag, trustee, Pune Prarthana Samaj on Friday. In her presidential address at the Brahmo Conference 2007, the 117th All-India Samaj session here, Dr Joag said the concept of Brahman does not contradict modern scientific ways of understanding universe.
Bangalore is hosting the conference after almost 40 years. The last one was held in 1968.
Puttige seer gets backing
Admar (Udupi), dhns: Admar Mutt senior pontiff Vibhudeshatheertha Swamiji on Friday supported the ascension of Puttige Seer Sri Sugunendratheertha Swamiji to paryaya peetha and opposed restricting Puttige seer from performing rituals to Lord Krishna inside the ‘sanctum sanctorum’. Addressing a news conference after felicitating the Puttige seer prior to his ‘pura pravesha’, the last rituals of paryaya, where the Puttige seer is given a grand ceremonial welcome on his way back from Karnataka sanchar, Vibhudeshatheertha Swamiji condemned the attitude of other pontiffs towards Puttige seer. He said ‘videsha yatra’ is not a serious sin to the extent that the seer be forbidden from performing rituals to Lord Krishna, which is the primary right of the paryaya seer.
