Taxi owner oppose speed governors
The Bangalore Tourist Taxi Owners’ Association has raised concern over the rule making speed governors mandatory for all commercial vehicles and tourist taxis from the new year. Association president K S Thantri appealed to Governor Rameshwar Thakur to reconsider the move. Thantri said as the traffic density is high in the City, speeding of vehicles is unlikely. He also said a reasonable speed is even “desirable” on highways during inter-city movement,
The association has suggested alternative measures, including speed limit indicator signals in crowded zones, phasing out of old vehicles and in the long run, mandatory installation of speed governors by vehicle manufacturers themselves.
