A suspended State Bank of Mysore cashier, who had cheated many individuals and companies, of lakhs of rupees by forging cheques has been arrested.
DCP (Central) B N S Reddy told the media that Naveen (33), a bachelor and a resident of Jayanagar 2nd Block, had been suspended from Chikkanayakanahalli Branch in Tumkur district. After his suspension Naveen indulged in criminal activities to continue with his lavish life style.
The modus operandi of Naveen, who was arrested by Sampangiram Nagar police, was to follow courier boys and steal postal covers. He would later forge cheques and discard other packets.
After forging the signatures with the help of fake seals, he managed to encash the cheques.
Naveen, who had been cheating people since five years, was arrested while he was encashing a heavy amount cheque of Mico Bosch.
He forged the signature and requested his friend Basavaraj to discount the cheque.
However, the courier authorities had lodged a police complaint, as the account holder had made several enquiries.
During the investigation, police traced the amount and found that the funds had been remitted to Naveen’s friend's account.
Labourer stabbed
A labourer was stabbed to death by his colleagues at Kalappa Garden in Doddanakunte in Frazer Town police limits on Friday night.
Police said Prabhakar (20), who was stabbed by Shiva, Vinod, Lalu, Nalini and others after a fight, died on the way to a hospital.
The culprits have been arrested.
Youth dies in accident
Balaji (24), an MBA student from Kerala who had come to Bangalore to celebrate New Year, was killed in a road accident.
Balaji, who was staying with his friends in JP Nagar, was returning from a party when the mishap occurred.
One killed in accident
A rider died on the spot after a BMTC bus rammed into his motorcycle on Bellary Road near Hebbal police station on Friday night.
Police have identified the body as Shivaraj (30).
The body has been shifted to MS Ramaiah hospital.
Body traced
A highly decomposed body of a woman aged around 25-30 years was found near the bushes at Anchepalya in Bidadi police station limits on Saturday.
According to police, the body bore multiple stab injuries.
Moreover, one end of the saree was tied to the woman’s neck while the other end to her ankle
Murder confirmed
Parappana Agrahara police registered a murder case on Friday, on receiving post-mortem report which confirmed that the youth who was found dead with grievous head injuries at Chinnasandra was murdered.
On December 24 morning the Madivala Traffic police found the body near Mangalore Lunch Home at Chinnasandra on Hosa Road, whose head was badly crushed.
Police identified the deceased as Naveen, a resident of Hosa Road. He was a DSS worker.
The police considered it a case of accident and registered a case of homicide without intention.
Further the body was sent for autopsy at Victoria Hospital.
However, the autopsy confirmed that the youth was murdered.
