As the list of deserving persons under Special Unit Project is ready, the implementation will be done in January, officers said. All arrangements have been made in this regard, they added.

 Horticulture, Silk and Social Welfare Department officials provided the information before District in-charge Secretary D Tangaraj at Karnataka Development Programmes Progress Review Meeting held in Zilla Panchayat premises recently.

Approved projects are not reaching the concerned department on time, the authorities concerned should work more in this regard, Tangaraju said.

He even directed the officials to conduct the KPP meeting on  the 11 of every month under the leadership of Zilla Panchayat President and Chief Executive Officers. He asked the Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officers to organise workshop and programme on Special Unit Project for taluk panchayat and zilla panchayat members.
Of 48 projects of Panchayat Raj Engineering department,  8  projects have been completed, the remaining projects are in progress, said executive engineer.

 Social Welfare Department’s programmes are in progress, and vacancy for the post of ladies hostel warden is available, informed the department officials. 

Stating that hostel in-charge responsibility can be given to the teachers  who reside in the same town, Mr Tangaraj suggested the officials to write a letter to the department commissioner to know whether the warden can be appointed based on contract.

  The inspection of applications for the new BPL rationcards is over.  Among the applications received for the new BPL ration card, 33,369 applications have been recommended for BPL category and 12718 applications have been recommended for APL category, said Food and  Civil Supply Department Officials.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner G Ramachandra said Panchayat Raj Engineering Department has taken up the 1050 works with regard to drinking water which include sinking new bore wells, water tanks construction and repair works. Of these 221 new bore wells and 226 repair works to be completed,  officials said.
 The progress of Public Instruction Department, Social Welfare Department, Backward Class and Minority Department, Industrial Department Water Shed Department and Weaving and Silk Departments  was discussed in the meeting.
