Karnataka women knocked hosts Rajasthan out of the 56th Senior National Volleyball championship after winning the play-off encounter 3-1 at the Sawai Man Singh Indoor Stadium here on Saturday.
Karnataka inched closer to a quarterfinal place securing a 25-9, 25-20, 18-25, 25-17 win, thereby moving to the last-eight qualifying stage. The hosts’ efforts to stage a comeback met with a stern response as Karnataka did not let them build on the third set win.
Punjab women came from behind to beat Bihar 21-25, 25-16, 25-8, 25-8. In the men’s section, Chhattisgarh pipped Uttar Pradesh 25-22, 25-19, 25-15.
In their last league match, defending champions Railways defeated Karnataka 25-17, 25-17, 25-27, 25-15 while Rajasthan beat Himachal Pradesh 25-20, 25-15, 25-17.
