Yuvraj gets clean chit
Yuvraj Singh was given a clean chit by match referee Mike Procter after the South African found him not guilty of breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the first Test against Australia in Melbourne, reports DHNS. Yuvraj had been charged with breaching Level 1.3 of the Code relating to showing dissent at an umpire's decision after he stood his ground upon being given out caught behind off Stuart Clark during the second day. Procter said Yuvraj had not stood his ground in protest. "It was evident that Yuvraj took more time than normal to leave the crease, but it was due to the fact that he was shocked at the decision.”
Karnataka men in semifinals
Karnataka men have entered the semifinals of the 12th Inter-zonal handball championship at Bardhman, West Bengal, after defeating Andhra Pradesh 27-10 on Saturday.
Karnataka, who had drawn 30-30 with Haryana earlier in the day, topped Group B with five points. On Friday, they had beaten Punjab 29-28. Karnataka will take on Madhya Pradesh in the semifinals on Sunday.

India’s loss no surprise: Younis
India’s batting collapse in the first Test against Australia may have surprised many but not Pakistan’s middle-order mainstay Younis Khan, who feels Anil Kumble’s men hardly stood a chance against a ruthless world champion side, reports PTI from Karachi.
“Australia is the world’s top side because of their strong winning mentality. There were two days left in the Test match and they could have asked India to bat after setting them a target of 550 plus. Yet they declared on the third day and asked India to start the chase,” Younis said.
Lee, Jacquelin get Royal call-up
South Korea's Lee Dong-hwan and Frenchman Raphael Jacquelin have been called up to play in next year's Royal Trophy between Asia and Europe, organisers said on Saturday, reports Reuters from Bangkok.
Twenty-year-old Lee, who turned professional only a year ago, joins Naomichi "Joe" Ozaki's team after an impressive debut year on the Japan Tour. Jacquelin is the eighth pick for Europe captain Seve Ballesteros and makes his debut in the competition having won the Asian Open in Shanghai earlier this year.
The Frenchman joins compatriot Gregory Havret, Denmark's Anders Hansen, Irishman Paul McGinley, Sweden's Robert Karlsson and Britons Lee Westwood, Graeme Storm and Darren Clarke on the European team. The Asian team includes South Korea's Charlie Wi, Thai trio Thongchai Jaidee, Prayad Marksaeng and Chapchai Nirat, Japanese pair Toru Taniguchi and Hideto Tanihara and India's main player Jeev Milkha Singh.
Sushma wins shooting gold
Sushma Singh of CISF won the first gold medal in the 51st National shooting championship at the Ahmedabad Military Rifle and Training Association on Saturday, reports UNI from Ahmedabad.Singh won gold medal in the women’s sports pistol event. She tallied 576 (qualifying) and 196.6 in the finals. Anuraj Singh (577+191.9) of Indian Airlines took the silver medal and Sweta Chaudhary (567+196.9) of ONGC placed third.
Dungarpur is CCI President
Former BCCI chief Raj Singh Dungarpur was unanimously elected president of the Cricket Club of India on Friday, two months after he was suspended from membership for alleged financial irregularaties, reports PTI from Mumbai. Dungarpur’s elevation as president of BCCI’s affiliate, a post he had occupied for 13 years before resigning in September this year, came at the meeting of its newly elected Executive Committee.
