‘Vishwa Manava Samsthe’ celebrated Rashtrakavi Kuvempu birth Anniversary by felicitating Space Scientist Prof U R Rao, in Bangalore on Saturday.

 Prof Rao was honoured with ‘Vishwa Manava’ Award in recognition of his unique contribution to scientific research. Former Chief Justice of India, Justice M N Venkatachalaiah presented the award including Rs 25,000 cash and citation. Memeber of Parliament and Cine star Ambareesh was present on the occasion as Chief Guest and former minister H N Nanjegowda presided over.

‘Kuvempu Jayanthi’ was also celebrated by the Kannada Chaluvali Paksha, wherein Vatal Nagaraj received the ‘Kuvempu Jyothi’. Elsewhere in the city, Sundara Prakashana released two books ‘Mahabharatada Upakathegalu’ authored by H S Parvathi and ‘Ravanasurana Kanasu’ authored by Dr Jayanthi Manohar. The books were released by Manu Baligar, Director, Department of Kannada and Culture and Actor C R Simha to mark Kuvempu’s birth centenary, sources said.
