Additional commissioner of Police (traffic and security) K C Ramamurthy has put in his papers and is all set to don kadhi and enter into politics, according to sources.
However, the senior IPS officer declined to confirm the news.
The sources said, Ramamurthy, who has four more years in service, submitted his resignation on Wednesday and it is pending with the DPAR department.
If the resignation is accepted, he will be relieved by the first week of March, sources informed.
Reddy community
The sources said, Ramamurthy, who enjoys the support of Reddy community, is likely to contest the coming Assembly elections on a Bharatiya Janata Party ticket from the Varthur constituency. His brother Chikkaveerappa Reddy is a Congressman.
Two police officers B K Shivaram and Diwakar, who resigned a few weeks ago, will be relieved on December 31, sources said.
