Rail works may ruin party
DH News Service, Bangalore:
For years it had been the most sought-after destination for one and all to chill out and welcome the New Year.

However, this time around the venue wouldn't be the same as the ongoing Metro Rail work has played spoilsport dampening the spirit of New Year celebrations.

The MG Road which has been a landmark venue over the years for New Year celebrations will bear a rather messed up look with half of the road barricaded by the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation.

With vehicles movement restricted on MG Road from Anil Kumble Circle upto the junction at Residency Road near Mayo Hall after 8 pm, party goers and revellers have no option but to take a walk on the footpath.

The walking space has also been curbed again due to the Metro Rail works as the entire Boulevard on MG Road where people flocked in large numbers during the New Year celebrations.

THEY SAY...
Dakshan Belliappa, BPO employee said this year he will not be heading towards MG Road this year. “For the past four years I have been on MG Road at the stroke of midnight with my friends. However this year as MG Road doesn’t hold the same charm, I am going to celebrate in a pub.”

Koushik Chandrashekar, a BBM student said that the revelry on MG Road has always been synonymous with New Years celebration in Bangalore.  With the ongoing Metro Rail work, there may not be as many people as the previous year.
