Rajya Raitha Sangha President K S Puttannaiah said that policy must be framed in such a way that it puts a complete end to farmer suicide cases across the state. In this regard, he said that farmers must be provided interest free loans, which will solve their problems to a very large extent if not completely.
Addressing the annual meet of Gonibeedu Belegarara Sangha on Friday at Jannapura, he said that in the next election ‘farmers politics’ must be created and in this direction all farmers must come together at a huge convention as it is time that justice is rendered to the working hands.
He urged that separate policy must be framed for commercial crops, horticulture crops, vegetables, crops dependent on rain and dry farming.
Giving contrasting facts of 100 gm chips costing Rs 14 but 1 kg potato costing only Rs 6, one sachet of shampoo costing Rs 1 but 1 kg sugarcane costing 85 paise, he said that while industrial products are given justice why agricultural products are not given judicious price, he questioned.
Presiding over the programme, Gonibeedu Belegarara Sangha President C D Vinayaprasad said that the pride of the region, cardamom crops are slowing vanishing while condition of coffee crops are also not as good as they should have been. He urged government for urgent solutions.
