Observance of World Consumer Day will be meaningful only when consumers exercise their voting power properly, said DC Subodh Yaday.

Inaugurating World Consumer Day celebrations  jointly organised by food and civil supplies department and legal measures department Mr Yadav called upon consumers to check the quality and price of any product before purchasing.

Zilla panchayat president M B Chikkanarasimhayya suggested opening of quality control centres in gram panchayats. Training should be imparted to milk producers’ cooperative societies in this respect, he said.

In every village atl east 100 consumers have not been given ration cards, he said insisting that the food and civil supplies department must look into the matter.

District consumer forum president G V Hegde spoke about consumer rights. Taluk panchayat president Subbarayappa, public education department deputy director Bellashetty and block education officer R Ashwatthaiah were present. Srinivasayya of food and civil supplies department welcomed the gathering.
