Misuse of funds: Probe sought
DH News Service, Chikkaballapur:

Former member of City Municipal Council Amir Mohmed Sadiq has alleged that the renovation work of the Deputy Commissioner's  office and residence, done at a cost of Rs 93.91 lakh, has grossly violated norms.

Major portion of the amount released by the Government for infrastructure development of the district has been misused, he alleged.

In a press meet on Sunday, Mr Sadiq  accused J Krishnamurthy, Assistant Executive Engineer, Public Works Department and the contractors of misusing the funds.

A whopping Rs 57 lakh has been spent on constructing and repairing aluminium partition and toilets in Deputy Commissioner office and Zilla Panchayat office.

For the renovation of DC’s residence Rs 16 lakh has been incurred. The residence was in fact in a good condition and such a huge expenditure on its renovation was absolutely uncalled for, he said.

No prior permission
All these works have been undertaken with no prior permission from the administrative authorities.
No tenders were called and no norms were followed, he said, alleging the involvement of a JD(S) leader in the misappropriation of funds.

He also said that there has been a huge misuse of funds in the purchase of furniture and other equipment for the Deputy Commissioner office.

He said he has sought clarification on this from the Deputy Commissioner office.

Probe sought
After receiving the required information, a complaint will be registered at the Lokayukta seeking probe, he added.
