Siddaganga mutt is a secular mutt. It is not confined to one particular community. It has been treating people of all caste, creed and religion equally ever since it was started in 1917.
It has been advocating the ideals propagated by Basavanna and other sharanas, said the association.
K H Shivarudraiah, secretary of the association, in a press release has said that leaders of various parties have been visiting the mutt and it has been blessing them. “Mr Kumaraswamy’s statements against the mutt and Dr Shivakumara swamiji is not fair,” the release added.
Dr Shivakumara swamiji has never supported anyone on the basis of caste as said by Kumaraswamy. Swamiji does not have any interest in politics.
His main interest is the welfare of the students of the mutt, the release said.
“Nobody should teach secular ideology to swamiji. The seer had been following secular ideology much before the debate started on secularism. In this context, the former chief minister’s statement that the swamiji wants to enter politics does not hold any water,” Mr Shivarudraiah has opined.
