Jazz guitarist and composer Amit Heri is a home grown jazz artiste, who has made a name for himself and earned critical acclaim at jazz festivals across the world. He will be performing on the fourth and final day (December 15) of the Deccan Herald Music Festival at Chowdiah Memorial Hall.
Amit Heri is one of the few Indian musicians to perform at major international music festivals. He has performed at the Berlin Jazz Festival, Montreux Jazz Festival, London Jazz Festival, Paris Jazz Festival, Rome World Music Festival & the WOMAD Festival. Amit has also scored music for feature films and dance theatre productions.
Drawing from various musical cultures of the world including Latin, Indian, Contemporary, Jazz, Funk, Blues and European music, the Amit Heri Group performs original compositions that range from mellow and pretty, to fiery and funky. Tightly woven compositions interspersed with intricate improvisations in a high-energy performance make the Amit Heri Group a uniquely enjoyable listening experience. Also performing will be The Pilgrims. It is a 13-year group conducted by Anbudurai. Their most memorable event is the All India tour they had for one whole year.
