Cosmo Village, when set up 10 years ago was an idea of a lounge bar conceptualised by Pat Manaschaung. She has once again used her expertise at Kosmo, a new restaurant located off Cunningham Road, where the spirit of Cosmo Village continues to live on. What’s different about this place is that unlike other restaurants, pubs or discotheques, Kosmo is more personal and stylised. Says Pat, “What seemed impossible has turned out into mystic beauty with an experience designed with intimate touches.”
Speaking about the 50-year-old, 12,000 sq ft colonial building with arches and pillars, which required constant change in design, Martin Grace, Project Manager says, “The house was crumbling, the roof had to be ripped and rebuild. The job was challenging in more ways than one and meeting the deadline of three months was difficult by international standards. But we completed it.”
The walkway, with statues of Buddha, emulates tranquility leading to the Buddha Garden. The BBQ offers a variety of meat and seafood, stir-fried vegetable, jacket potatoes, penne, fettuccine and Kerala paratha, among others. Ideal for quick office lunches, the tropical influences break away from the stereotypical fusion cuisine, which suits the new breed of multicultural, experimental guests.
The decor stimulates an excavation site, with exquisite artifacts sourced from Thailand. Tall doors lead to the quintessential music lounge with wooden beam ceiling that is warm and inviting. The ambience of the nightclub, that has two bars serving cocktail, is subtle with DJ Collin’s lounge party music.
Kosmo serves some of the popular dishes from the menu at Cosmo Village which include a choice of Tapas with ‘Rich man’s tapas’ topping the list apart from Foie gras, fresh oysters, caviar, salmon and grilled quail. A variety of soups, salads, spicy curries, momos in cream sauce along with vegetarian options is also served. The aroma of fresh baked breads from the in-house patisserie and subways, pasta and pizza from the pizzeria, wafts around the place.
An ornate stairway leads to The Terrace, the dining area that’s reminiscent of colonial and classical lines. A perfect area for fine dining with a classical piano music, they also innovate classical dishes dedicated to those with discerning tastes, accompanied by a selection of wines from around the globe.
The finale to a gourmet meal — Blueberry/ Lemon souffle, Chocolate fondue, cookies and ice creams. For corporate or private parties, the private balcony opposite the terrace is the perfect place.
Kosmo is at 81, Ali Askar Road Cross, Off Cunningham Road, Behind Air Deccan.
