Cong to seek additional funds to Kodagu district
DH News Service,Madikeri:
KPCC Member T P Ramesh said that the estimated loss of property due to excess rainfall is over Rs 50 crore. The previous JD(S)-BJP coalition government washed its hands off after releasing a sum of Rs 6.5 crore. It has spent about half the money in the exchequers for districts like Hasan, Shimoga and Ramnagar.

KPCC Member T P Ramesh informed that it has been decided to meet the Governor soon along with senior district Congress leaders and submit a memorandum to the Governor demanding for additional relief funds to the district which has been adversely affected by excess rainfall.

Addressing a news conference on Saturday, Mr Ramesh informed that in this regard the senior leaders of the party will be contacted and a date of the meeting will be fixed.

He said that the estimated loss of property due to excess rainfall is over Rs 50 crore. The previous JD(S)-BJP coalition government washed its hands off after releasing a sum of Rs 6.5 crore. It has spent about half the money in the exchequers for districts like Hasan, Shimoga and Ramnagar.

Commenting on the assurance made by former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa of solving the Bane land dispute in 24 hours, Mr Ramesh said that even if BJP was given a time limit of 24 months, it would have not solved Bane land problems.

“During the 20 months of JD(S)-BJP rule, progress works were directly implemented without calling for a tender in the PWD department. This has resulted in wide spread corruption,” he alleged and urged the ZP President Dheergakeshi Shivanna to immediately convene a meeting to review the implementation of National Horticulture Mission programme in the district.

Commenting on the misappropriation in Kodava Sahithya Academy, former minister Suma Vasanth urged the Government to immediately dissolve the Academy committee and place an enquiry into the issue.

She lamented that such an incident taking place in the academy is a matter of shame.

She said that bringing former MLA A K Subbaiah into Congress is inevitable and senior leaders must made a serious discussion about formally inviting Subbaiah into Congress.

Zilla Congress President Veena Achaiah, District Congress Principal Secretary B S Thimaiah, Zilla Panchayat President Dheergakeshi Shivanna and others were present.
