POST THE SHOW
Diverse opinions notwithstanding, the celebration of International Film Festival of India (IFFI) spilled over from film theatres to the main streets of Panjim recently. Some found the colourful banners, buntings and hoardings fluttering against the sea breeze to be gorgeous and eye-catching. Others thought they were garish, tasteless and even vulgar.
Out there, overzealous administrators ensured that pavements, bridges, benches and corridors got a fresh layer of paint. While enthusiastic cine-goers sweated it out to procure tickets and get into their favorite theatres, policemen on the street whistled vehicles and pedestrians to order. Street vendors had a field day selling their ware; office-goers tried to make way through by-lanes and cross roads; curious on-lookers thought they had sighted a filmstar; others wondered what this fuss was all about.
