At least five deposed judges — Khwaja Shareef, Asif Saeed Khosa, Mian Saqib Nisar, Tasur Ali and Sheikh Azmat — confirmed they had been detained in their houses.
Police deployed
Police were deployed outside their houses and they were told that they could not go out, the judges said, adding the authorities had not given any explanation as to why they were detained.
However, it is believed that the provincial government detained the judges to stop them from attending a lawyers’ convention here which is expected to chalk out the legal fraternity’s strategy on the campaign for the restoration of the sacked judges.
A total of 10 judges were sacked after they refused to show allegiance to President Pervez Musharraf when he imposed emergency on November 3 citing growing judicial intervention and terrorism.
Supreme Court Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and other judges of SC too were sacked on November 3.
