Dyson set to  take over

John Dyson, the former Australian opener who leaves for the Caribbean on Monday to take up his appointment as the successor to compatriot Bennett King, says he needs to sit down with the West Indian players and quickly discover why they are underachieving in world cricket. “Over the last 10 years, by anyone’s standards, they have been playing some pretty average cricket,” he said.

Tiwari-Murali win golf title

BMS post big win over SJCC

Vijaya PU down Seshadripuram
Riding on a 45-run knock by Sujayendra, Vijay PU College got the better of Seshadripuram PU College by five wickets in the 36th inter-Pre-University College State-level cricket tournament on Friday.
Brief score: Sheshadripuram PU College: 162/6 in 25 overs (Parash 2-43, Suhash 2-36) lt to Vijay PU College: 166/5 in 21.2 overs (Sujayendra 45, Vetisha 31; Abhijeeth 2-19, Pawan 2-33).

Postal drub  Coorg Blues
Riding on a brace from Taranath (25th, 41st), Postal defeated Coorg Blues 4-1 in the State ‘A’ Division hockey league on Saturday. Adarsh Ganapathy (9th) and Jijed (39th) scored the other two goals for the winners, while KK Poonacha scored a consolation goal for Coorg Blues.

In the other match of the day ITI brushed aside the challenge of Flying Hockey Club 3-2.

KBA names State junior squad
The Karnataka Badminton Association has announced the State team to participate in the 32nd junior National badminton championships at Nellore from December 20 to 27.

Team: Boys: Singles: Aditya R Prakash, Prakash Jolly. Doubles: Anup Kiran/ Prateek Khurana.
Girls: Singles: V Ruth Misha, Ashwini Ponnappa, Ankita Ashok, Monisha Vinayak. Doubles: Ashwini Ponnappa/ Nitya Sosale. Coach: Ramakrishna, N Shiva Prakash.

State Sub-Junior volleyball teams
Pradeep Kumar and Nisha J will lead State boys’ and girls’ teams respectively in the 30th Sub-Junior Nationals to be held in Renukut (UP) from December 12 to 18.
