Samhita, the Rotary International District Conference was held on Saturday. Various speakers from different walks of life gave lectures on topics ranging from politics to leadership, and from Right to Information (RTI) to corruption.

 In his inaugural address, Dr Jayaprakash Narayan, founder of Loksatta, stressed the need for people to actively participate in deciding their leaders, and called for them to fight against corruption. He said that Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh topped the list of States where politicians spend a large sum of money before election. He added that the huge sum of money invested in the election campaign by politicians was the major reason for corruption among politicians.
