Police arrested two persons and seized tiger skin worth Rs 2 lakh at Pilathabettu in Belthangady.

According police, the arrested have been identified as Karim, a native of Guruvayanakare and Mohammed Tajuddin, a resident of Kasargod. However, their accomplice Iqbal has fled the scene. Police have also seized a car and a mobile.

However, when the police were bringing the duo in a police jeep, about 15 to 20 persons who came in a mobike waylaid the police at Vogga. In order to protect themselves, police had to fire two rounds, in which one person was injured, according to SP Sathish Kumar. A case has been registered.

Liquor unit raid

Excise officials seized Rs 8.5 lakh worth property and arrested two persons when they raided a illicit liquor manufacturing unit in Ponnodi near B C Road.

The arrested have been identified as Usman (30) and Fayaz (26). However, Hanif has fled the scene. They have seized 13,000 sachets of illicit liquor, 87 cans of spirit and Qualis car used for the transportation. A case has been registered.

Man ends life

A person committed suicide by jumping into a well at Badagabellur. According to police, the deceased has been identified as Umesh Poojary. He was depressed. A case has been registered.
