Sericulture farmers must make use of modern technology and involve themselves in modern methods of sericulture farming, said Zilla Panchayat member V P Shashidhar.

Speaking after inaugurating the Sericulture Kshetrotsava organised jointly by the Zilla Panchayat and Sericulture Department at Guddehosur, he said farmers must be on the look out for profitable sericulture farming and thus improve their financial status. 

Sericulture Department Deputy Director S K Patil, speaking introductorily, informed about the schemes and facilities provided by the department to sericulture farmers.

Taluk Panchayat member C L Vishwa said must grow more cocoons at lesser cost. Guddehosur Gram Panchayat President Mallikarjuna presided over the function.

Cheko Grameena Bank manager Vinod Babu, Gram Panchayat member B P Gurubasappa, Fathima, Usha Krishnan, Sannappa and Suresh participated.

Women farmers who received training were distributed financial assistance for the year 2007-08. A book on sericulture was released on the occasion.
