The BJP Yuva Morcha started an indefinite strike on Thursday, accusing that the Karnataka Housing Board is unnecessarily delaying the provision of houses to the applicants.
The protest was staged under the leadership of Morcha President K G Manu at the land earmarked for constructing houses near Government PU College.
They demanded the Board that houses must be immediately provided to the applicants. Mr Manu said that until officials concerned from the Housing Board take necessary steps for providing houses, the strike will continue indefinitely.
Though the Housing Board had received applications from the public for provision of houses and also collected money from them seven years ago, it has not taken any further steps since then.
The protesters criticised that even after collecting money from them, the Board has not kept the applicants informed about the steps taken by the Board. If houses are not provided to the applicants at the earliest, the protest will be intensified, Morcha Secretary Vaishakh warned.
BJP Yuva Morcha office-bearers H M Madhusudan, K N Devraj, B V Arunkumar, M D Krishnappa, Shivaji, M K Chandrashekhar, Murugesh, B K Chandrashekhar and Mahila Morcha president Susheela participated.
Panchayat members D S Yogesh and Renuka expressed support for the protest.
