It is most unfortunate to note that parks and gardens in Chikkaballapur City are in a very pitiable condition. They are not maintained properly and have become mass spaces for dustbin. They have failed to realise the purpose for which they have been constructed.
They have become a breeding spot for mosquitoes and other insects. And have been conveniently converted into open toilets by the public. Parks and gardens have no longer maintained the scantity for which they have been created and have lost their purpose.
Apart from these problems, of late, tempos and lorries are also parked here and these areas have been converted into parking lots for these vehicles.
A visit to parks and gardens often meant a breath of fresh air, pocket of greenery and blossoms to please the eyes.
But a visit to parks and gardens now only means inviting troubles and diseases. During monsoons, the conditions of these parks are even more deteriorating. Stench emanates from these places and water gets stagnated in most of the places.
Long back, the then Municipal Council had established a garden in memory of former minister late T Channaiah, beside the national highway. This garden had turned into a very beautiful spot with lush green lawns, huge trees, shrubs and plants with blooming flowers, just around 20 years back.
However, the park became neglected and after some time, it lost its old charm.
